A joint course by the School of Electrical Engineering (EE/LCN) and
the School of Computer Science and Communication (CSC).
This course was previously given under the codes 2E1605, 2G1305, 2D1392 and DD2392.
The course is given in period 1 (Fall) 2011 on the KTH main campus at Valhallavägen.
EP2120 is a 7.5 ECTS credit course, while DD2393 is a 6 credit course.
Please come to the first lecture on Mon 29 August 2011, 13-15 in B1.
Content and goals
Contents
Overview of the TCP/IP and OSI models, addressing, local and wide-area
networks, routing protocols, transport protocols (TCP/UDP), switched
and routed networks, name lookup, IPv6, network security and address
translation. The course contains several guest lecturers and a
thorough lab course.
Aims
The course will give you
- knowledge about the functionality, mechanisms and the principles of the Internet
- the skills to solve networking related problems
- the possibility to apply your knowledge in lab sessions

Registration
D-students should register to DD2393 (or to EP2120 if you want to take
the 7.5 ECTS version). E-students should register to EP2120. Other
students can choose. You can not register for both courses.
All student registration is handled via the RAPP system. If you have
registered for the course, your name should be listed among the course
participants. In RAPP, the course instance is DD2393:protok11 and
EP2120:protokEP11, respectively.
