- Siavash Soleimanifard obtained his Licentiate degree on 23 May 2012.
- Sonja Buchegger has successfully passed her Docent lecture on 7 May 2012.
- Douglas Wikström has successfully passed his Docent lecture on 23 April 2012.
- Douglas Wikström and our former researcher, Shahram Khazaei,
have found major security flaws in commercial electronic voting systems used in the U.S. and Norway. Read more in the

- Fei Niu obtained his Licentiate degree on 7 November 2011.
- Tobias Mömke and Ola Svensson
received the best paper award of the IEEE Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science (FOCS) 2011.

obtained a large grant from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF).
- Johan Håstad is the new director of the Theory group as of 2011 and
Mads Dam is co-director.
- Sonja Buchegger obtained a large grant from SSF:Framtidens Forskningsledare
- Mads Dam was promoted to full professsor from Dec 1 2010.
- Jakob Nordström obtained a junior researcher position from the Swedish Science Council
- Mikael Goldmann received the
Excellence in teaching 2010 award, funded by STINT.
- Lukáš Poláček participated successfully in the
team winning bronze medal (12th place) in
the 2010 ACM ICPC world finals.

The Theory group contributes to
the educational quality of the CSC school that gave it the
Excellence in Higher Education distinction in December 2009 (official badge to the right).
- Johan Boye, previously at Chalmers Institute of Technology, joined TCS in January 2010.
- Sonja Buchegger, previously with Deutsche Telekom Laboratories, joined TCS in January 2010.
- Jakob Nordström, alumnus of TCS, received
the Ackermann Award 2009, for his outstanding dissertation in Logic in Computer Science.
- Viggo Kann received the
Erik Wellander award
for prominent research in the area of preservation of the purity of the language.
- Per Austrin and Gunnar Kreitz won the final of the
9th BME International 24-hour Programming Contest
in May 2009.
- We organized the 2009 ACM ICPC world finals at KTH April 18-22 2009.

- One of our members was awarded for writing the
best Computer Science Thesis in Sweden the year 2002.
- Best Thesis, 2002.
- Three of five persons in the code-breaking team winning Singh's prize
in the year 2000 have been PhD students in the Theory group (nowadays they
have PhD degrees also)
