Overview
The B.Sc. degree project has two independent parts:
- The programming project in the software engineering (MVK) course, 9 hp.
- A Bachelor's essay (sv. kandidatuppsats), 6 hp. This page addresses ONLY the Bachelor's essay.
The essay is a small project executed individually or in pairs, designed to test students skills in analysing, processing, evaluating, and presenting a piece of scientific or engineering work in computer science.

The essay work involves the following items:
- The essay itself, including project specification, written report, and an oral presentation at a final one-day "exjobbs" conference
- Review of another essay
- Lectures in report writing and presentation techniques
The essay work starts with a kickoff in January. At the kickoff we'll go through the what, how, why, and when's of the essay work, including choice of subject, supervisor assignment, and grading.

Halfway Meetings
For the halfway meetings bring a draft essay in 3 copies. The draft must include the following:
- Title page with complete information regarding title, author(s) (name, full address, phone number, mailaddress), course information (this course w. name and number, school, university) and name of supervisor
- Current table of content with page numbers
- Complete list of headings expected to appear in the final essay
- General introduction explaining the larger context in which the essay project is donem including statements of problem and aims
- Summary of the literature (reports, papers, web sites, etc) which the author(s) have read in relation to the essay work
- As much of the project work as has been completed
- Results and conclusion as can be determined at the time of writing
- Reference list and references in the current text
- Richards slides, report checklist, review form for author, return form
- Here is a really useful resource for those of you writing in English

Prerequisites
Minimum is 120 hp completed of which 60 hp in computer science.
Registration
We use rapp. Registration information is imported from ladok, but it is very important that you activate your participation in rapp.
