IP-routning inom enkla datornät, ipro1-11

This course will not be given anymore. The last time was in Spring 2011.

The written exam will be given once more: June 7, 2012 at 14:00-18:00 in seminar room 1537 (Osquars Backe 2, level 5). No preregistration needed.

Welcome

Welcome to course DD2490, IP Routing in Simple Computer Networks. All course-related news and information will be published on this page. Please email to the course instructor if you have any questions.

The first lecture is in Q31 on Monday March 21 at 10:15. Q31 is on campus in the Q-building, Osquldas vag 6. See map of KTH campus

Course Objectives

After taking this course the student should have a good understanding of:

  • The different routing paradigms- the differences, the similarities, and when to use which paradigm.
  • What decisions a router must make before forwarding a packet to another network.
  • Routing in practice - a deep understanding of how routing in an internal IP network works. In particular, we will study unicast routing (RIP, OSPF, ISIS), multicast routing (PIM-SM) and label-switching (MPLS).
The follow-up to this course is DD2491, these two courses in combination gives a fundamental knowledge about how the Internet works in general, and IP routing in particular.

Next year (2012) DD2490 and DD2491 will be replaced by one large course: DD2494, 'routing in packet-switched networks'. DD2494 will be given the first time in periods p1 and p2, 2012. DD2491 will be given the last time in p4 2011.

Administration

If you want to apply for this course, contact your "Studievägledning, or CSC studentexpedition exp csc.kth.se

All news concerning the course is put on the news page. Please follow it on a daily basis.

The course administration uses the RAPP system. Participating students should activate themselves in the system. If you do not appear on the list, contact the course responsible. This course has course identifier ipro1-11

Lab registration uses the REMORES system, please see the lab page.

The programming exercise of the homework is examined using the automatic KATTIS system.

If you do not have an account on CSC (TCOMM students and other non-D students usually do not) please go to the Delfi helpdesk. You can then use the registration service (rapp) and get access to the lab computers.

Access to the lab-rooms is required: ICT (Kista students) need new access cards. Access cards will be brought to the lectures.

Special notes for ICT students: The Daisy system is ICT school specific and is not used in other KTH schools, RAPP is currently used at computer science.
