Main area of interest

How multimodal interfaces support different activities in distributed meetings due to the specific qualities of each modality. Moreover how different modalities affect communication and collaboration processes between people. My research has focused on computer supported cooperative work mediated by multimodal systems. I have investigated professional user groups and their needs and use of information and communication systems in their work context. 

• Distributed meetings in three dimensional virtual worlds and applications for professional user groups.
  
  
• The effect of haptic force-feedback on perceived presence and people´s ability to solve problems in distributed meetings.
  
  
• Multimodal interfaces that support visually impaired pupils that do group-work with sighted peers in integrated schools.
  
  
• Cognitive aspects of navigation in audial voice-controlled systems such as correlations between spatial and navigational ability.

Background

I am a Ph.D. in Human-Machine Interaction and currently work as a senior researcher at the Dept of Human-Computer Interaction at the school of Computer Science and Communication at the Royal Institute of Technology. My background is in Psychology and Human-Computer Interaction. I worked at Telia Research AB during 1996-1998.
