Kjetil Falkenberg Hansen is a PhD student in music acoustics. Originally from Larvik, Norway, but moved to Stockholm in 2000. The thesis focusses on controllers for new musical instruments and expressive playing using the turntable.

One outcome of the work done at KTH is a software scratch tool called Skipproof, where it is possible to scratch with the computer mouse or other input devices, and to explore scratch techniques collected from analysis of a professional DJ.

Results from analysis of scratch performances are reported in several publications available online.
