DH2321 Information Visualization - Group arranger

by Leonard Graf

This page is part of the lecture DH2321 Information Visualization at KTH, Stockholm.
Goal of this visualisation is to create groups of students so that theses groups perform well in a group project. The data used is a questionnaire that asks the students to rate their skills from 1 to 10 in different categories themselves. They were also asked other questions regarding their interest and student career, but these questions were not taken into account for the visualisation. The questions regarding the skills were as follows:
How would you rate your Information Visualization skills?
How would you rate your statistical skills?
How would you rate your mathematics skills?
How would you rate your drawing and artistic skills?
How would you rate your computer usage skills?
How would you rate your programming skills?
How would you rate your computer graphics programming skills?
How would you rate your human-computer interaction programming skills?
How would you rate your user experience evaluation skills?
The circles in the first box represent the students. To interact with the tool, you can drag and drop students in the group box. Before you drop the first student, you can select the number of groups with the spinner. After you dropped the first student you have to refresh the page to change the number of groups. The maximum number of allowed groups is set so that there are at least 2 students in each group. Once you dropped students to groups, you can see the number of students in each group in the brackets on the tabs. To change the group for an already assigned student, you have to drop the student back to the student pool and then change the group and drop the student again (for now).
