Portrait of Nalin          welcome    Dharmachakkra

I am a Post Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Biological Cybernetics at the University of Bielefeld, Germany under the EU funded FP7 project EMICAB (Embodied Motion Intelligence for Cognitive, Autonomous Robots). I obtained a PhD degree in Computer Science form the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. As a doctoral student,
I worked in the areas of computer simulations of locomotion (especially on the cat and the salamander), biologically inspired walking machines, machine learning and artificial neural networks. One of the main objectives is to understand the neural control mechanisms behind locomotion and to design new biologically inspired locomotor control algorithms that can be implemented on robotic walking, swimming or crawling emulators. Also, I was involved in a three-year collaborative project (LAMPETRA) funded by the Seventh EU framework programme.
