En studie i hur lŠrare lŠr sig att anvŠnda och anvŠnder interaktiva skrivtavlor i undervisningen

Sammanfattning

Interaktiva skrivtavlor Šr en ny teknologi som har bšrjat anvŠndas mer i dagens grundskola. Denna teknologi krŠver mycket av dess anvŠndare dŚ den Šr mycket mer tekniskt krŠvande Šn en vanlig whiteboard eller den traditionella svarta tavlan.

Syftet med denna studie var att granska hur interaktiva skrivtavlor pŚverkar lŠrare i deras arbete. Studien behandlar ocksŚ vilken typ av utbildning som ges i och med den nya tekniken, samt hur det skiljer sig frŚn arbetet med en whiteboard.

Rapportens fokus ligger i anvŠndandet av SMART Board, en variant pŚ en interaktiv skrivtavla. SjŠlva undersškningen genomfšrdes med hjŠlp av intervjuer med lŠrare som hade kontakt med denna typ av skrivtavla, observationer av lektioner som utfšrdes med SMART Board samt enkŠter som skickades till skolor som utgav sig fšr att anvŠnda SMART Board.

Resultatet av detta arbete visar pŚ att interaktiva skrivtavlor Šr en uppskattad ny teknik som ger en ny dimension till dagens undervisning, men som dock krŠver mycket tid, anstrŠngning och fšrstŚelse bŚde frŚn skolorna samt lŠrarna fšr att nŚ en obehindrad undervisning. Undersškningen visar Šven pŚ att det finns en del som bšr fšrbŠttras funktionsmŠssigt fšr att ška anvŠndbarheten och pŚ sŚ sŠtt underlŠtta fšr lŠrarna i deras anvŠndande.

 

Interactive whiteboards and teacherŐs interaction

A study of how teachers learn to use and use interactive whiteboards when teaching

 

Abstract

Interactive whiteboards is a new technology, which has been more frequently used in compulsory school. Technologies like these make great demands on its user because it is more technically challenging than an ordinary whiteboard or the traditional blackboard.

The purpose of this thesis was to examine how interactive whiteboards influence teachers in their work. The study also makes research into which type of education, in using interactive whiteboards, is given and how it differs from work with a regular whiteboard.

The main focus of the paper is on the usage of SMART Boards, a certain type of interactive whiteboard. The research was carried out through interviews with teachers that were in contact with this type of interactive whiteboard, observations of lessons with SMART Boards and questionnaires that were sent to several schools, which claimed they used SMART Boards.

The result from this work showed that interactive whiteboards gives an extra dimension to todayŐs teaching, and thus it is an appreciated technology. However, the interactive whiteboard technology demands much time and effort to be set aside and also an understanding from both the schools and the teachers in order to reach untroubled teaching. The research also showed that there is room for improvement when it comes to the features of the product to increase its usability and thus make it easier for the teachers and their usage.
