NFC – The future of payment?

Abstract

Today a lot of people are dependent on their smartphones, the phones can do almost everything, except from paying. Credit cards and cash are the most common payment methods today, but will facilitating payment be forever? New technologies such as Near Field Communication - NFC has taken market shares on an international basis but not in Sweden.

This thesis focuses on if, and what the entrepreneurs need to implement this new technology. This paper has used interviews with companies, surveys and case studies on previous attempts to launch new payment methods. The conclusion was that the interest exist but the market is not ready for it.
