Mobile E-Commerce – Interaction design
within e-commerce applications
Johannes Bengtsson
Abstract
Technological developments are
continuously evolving and new tools to reach information is
created. One of the most recent technological innovations adopted by a large
number of users is the concept of smartphones and applications made
specifically for those phones. Phone applications expand the possibilities for
widespread information distribution where the user gets access to the
information almost always.
The concept of e-commerce is
nothing new in the technical development, the ability
to buy goods over the internet is something that consumers has been able to do
for over a decade. With the widespread use of smartphones and phone
applications e-commerce applications are increasingly making their appearance
at the market. An increased range of applications available for users means
more competition for developers. To boost the chances to meet success in the
fierce competition one must demonstrate a sound and useful application, a
requirement for achieving this is to have a good interaction design.
In this report, a couple of
the most successful e-commerce applications for the Android operating system
are analyzed with the objective to identify the cornerstones to a successful
interaction design and usability. With these results to back up the continued
work, I will develop a design framework for developing e-commerce applications
with the ability to satisfactorily process the user interaction.
