Course plan

The course comprises 6 lectures, two mandatory labs, and a project. For information about preliminary lecture contents, see the course schedule. Lecture slides and other material will be available electronically. The labs and projects are done in groups of two students at most.

The course will be given in English.

Examination

The labs should be presented and examined at the scheduled lab examination time slots. The project is presented and examined through a written report, and for some projects, with an oral presentation during the final course seminar. Project supervision will be scheduled as well. Labs and projects should be presented no later than what is stated in the project instructions.

Registration

Advance registration before course start is recommended. Joining the course should be done during the first week of the course via CSC:s Sun computers using the ‘res checkin’ command:

Simon Haykin: Neural networks. A comprehensive foundation

This textbook will be used for reference, not extensively covered.

Lab instructions

Lab instructions are announced at least a two weeks before the first lab examination and will also be available electronically.

 

MATLAB version R2006b is installed on the Sun computers in CSC:s computer halls and it has most toolboxes.
