How to Use the Interactive Isosurface Extraction Tool
This tool lets you explore and interact with a 3D voxel cube to better understand isosurface extraction in 3D. You can add points, connect them, and view solutions for different data cubes.
Getting Started
- The 3D cube will appear in the center. Use your mouse to rotate and zoom.
Controls & Interactions
- Rotate: Left-click and drag the mouse.
- Zoom: Use the mouse wheel.
- Reset Camera: Click the ResetCamera button in the GUI panel.
Working with Data Cubes
- Select Example: Use the Example dropdown in the GUI to switch between different data cubes.
- The numbers at the cube corners represent the data values for the current cube.
Adding and Connecting Points
- Add a Point: Hold Ctrl and click on a cube edge (when a gray halo appears) to add a point.
- Connect Points: Hold Ctrl, click and drag from one user-added point to another to create a line.
- Delete a Point or Line: Hold Ctrl + Shift and click on a user-added point or line to delete it.
Viewing Solutions
- In the Solution folder of the GUI, enter the password, given to you by the instructor, to unlock solution options.
- Enable Show Solution to view the regular solution.
- Enable Show HighRes Solution to view the high-resolution solution.
