ARRIVAL - COMMENT ALLER A PERUGIA  ...  HOW TO GET TO PERUGIA

THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO ARRIVE IN PERUGIA

1. BY CAR.  If you want to rent a car in either Firenze or Roma, and then drive to Perugia, we recommend that you investigate rental possibilities and make reservations prior to arriving, and use mapquest to get directions. The autoroutes are quite full of traffic, and it’s not the easiest task to escape from the Roman or Fiorentine metroplexes, so if you are not a seasoned urban driver, you might want to take the train instead.  Note that the drive from Firenze is about two hours, and from Roma about 2.5 or 3, depending on traffic.

2. BY TRAIN.  This is by far the better and easier option, and not very expensive at all. There are direct trains from both Roma and Florence, as well as some additional trains that would require a change at Terontola or Foligno. When you arrive at either Stazione Santa Maria Novella in Firenze, or at Termini in Roma, consult the giant timetables that you will find at the end of every track. Be sure to look at PARTENZA. Perugia is on the FOLIGNO line.

When you arrive in Perugia, take a taxi to CASA DELLO SACRE CUORE.  All the taxi drivers in Perugia know the location.  The address appears on the “LIEUX” page, as do the Casa phone and fax numbers.

NOTE : Many people, it appears, will arrive in Rome or Florence at approximately the same time.  We would be glad to post your arrival times, so that, if participants want to meet up for the train journey, or perhaps share the cost of renting a car, you can make contact directly with each other.
