DT2140 Multimodal interfaces

Seminars

The objective of the seminars is to discuss Assignment 1 (Paper review seminar) and the Project (Project seminar).

There will be two seminars:

Seminar 1: Summarizing the students' reviews about current research in multimodal interfaces (Assignment 1) Nov 16th 10:15-12:00 and 13:15-14:00.

During the seminar, each reviewed article will first be briefly summarized for the whole group by the teacher.

The reviews will then be discussed in small groups. For each review a discussant will have the main responsibility of initiating the discussions of the review with the student who has written the review, but all group members are expected to participate in the discussion of each paper.

Each student should therefore prepare by: a) Reading the review for which (s)he is discussant, browse the original scientific article, and prepare a few questions and/or discussion points about the review or article, in order to initiate the discussions.
These questions/discussion points should be posted on bilda before the Seminar, under Documents > Assignment 1 > [Tick the pdf of the review -- Note: The pdfs are named with the students who have done the review, but if you move the mouse over the different pdfs, the Description entry in the yellow pop-up window gives the same name as in the Seminar proceedings] > Choose Comment in the right-hand menu > Post your questions and discussion points.

b) Browsing the other reviews of the group, in order to participate in the discussions.

In the second part of the seminar (13:15-14:00), each group should briefly summarize for the whole class the most important issues discussed in the small group.

Seminar 2: A conference where the student projects are presented, Dec 14th, 09:15-12:00 or 14:15-17:00.

You will be able to select one of the time slots on doodle. Note: only choose one slot per group (that is, not one per person).

Each presentation should be about 15 minutes long, including questions from the audience.

Requirements:
Seminars 1 and 2 are compulsory
